Are You Too Old to Set New Goals? Think Again!

This Week's Focus:

Embrace Course Correction

I read a quote this morning that reminded me of a friend of ours; Monica. I remember when Monica shared her feelings of career uncertainty with my wife and me. She was once the top sales leader at her old software development company. Facing a mix of nerves and excitement as she stepped into her new role at a startup in sustainable technology. Leaving behind a decade of accolades and a comfortable office, she was now in a smaller workspace where everyone from the CEO to interns sat side by side, which at first drove her crazy!

Monica shared with us that the early days were tough. Everything was different from the products to the clients to the sales strategies she had previously mastered. Monica told us that she felt like a rookie and wondered if she had made a big mistake. But giving up was not in her nature.

Determined to succeed in this new world, Monica dedicated herself to learning. She absorbed industry reports, connected with experts, and embraced every piece of new information with an open mind. Her efforts began to pay off when she secured a major deal with a large corporation; an achievement that seemed nearly impossible for someone so new to the field she said.

This victory was a turning point. Monica's confidence grew, and so did her reputation. She was no longer just the former star from her old software development company; she had become a cornerstone of her new company. Her team expanded, and together, they landed some of the biggest contracts in the sector.

Monica's journey taught her, her team, and others more than just the ins and outs of sustainable technology. It reaffirmed her resilience and ability to adapt, proving that change, while daunting, brings opportunities to learn and grow not just professionally, but personally too.

Do you know someone like Monica? Better yet, are you like Monica?

Fresh Goals and New Dreams!

Dear Champion,

It's that time of the week again; your moment to refuel, reassess, and rejuvenate. Happy Wednesday, everyone! As we step into another mid-week, let’s embrace the fresh energy and the opportunities that come with it. I hope you’re rejuvenated because we've got some exciting things to dive into this week!

Dreaming Anew at Any Age

This week, I want to share something that struck a chord with me. It's a powerful reminder from C.S. Lewis: "You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream." No matter our age or where we are in life, there's always room to dream bigger and set new goals. It’s not just about big achievements but finding joy and fulfillment in pursuing what matters to us.

What dreams are you holding on to?

What new goals can we set together this week?

Embrace Course Correction

Just like a pilot might need to make a sudden course correction to avoid turbulence, we too can steer our lives in a new direction when necessary. This week, let's take on a 'Course Correction' challenge:

Reflect on Your Current Path: Identify an aspect of your life where you feel things could be better. Is it your career, a relationship, or perhaps your personal wellness?

Plan a Minor Adjustment: What’s one achievable change that could bring you closer to where you want to be? It doesn't have to be revolutionary—small steps are key.

Implement the Change: Take action this week. Start small, and observe how this change affects your mood and your life.

Discuss and Reflect: Share your experiences with us. What worked? What didn’t? How did it feel to try something different?

Exercise: Cultivating a Youthful Mindset

Feeling ‘old’ is often less about age and more about mindset. To keep our minds young and vibrant, consider these strategies:

  • Daily Affirmations: Begin each day by affirming your ability to achieve great things. Say something like, "I am open to new possibilities."

  • Visualization Techniques: Spend a few minutes each day envisioning yourself reaching your new goals. What does success look like? How does it feel?

  • Commit to Learning: Knowledge is the fuel for growth. Dedicate some time each week to learning something new that aligns with your personal or professional goals.

Seek Feedback: Don’t hesitate to ask for feedback or advice. A fresh perspective can be incredibly valuable.
